The problem

SIL registration is certification-level — and the bar just went up

From 1 July 2026, registration is mandatory for SIL providers, and currently-unregistered SIL providers must apply by 1 October 2026 to keep operating. SIL is assessed at certification level — a two-stage audit with an on-site visit and interviews with you, your workers and participants — against the Core Module plus the SIL Practice Standards. That means documented policies, per-participant support plans, risk assessments, emergency plans and a Roster of Care an auditor will actually scrutinise. Consultants charge $3,000–$10,000+. Generic template packs aren't tailored to your service and leave you doing the hard part alone.

Frequently asked questions

Do SIL providers really have to register now?

Yes. Registration is mandatory for Supported Independent Living (SIL) and platform providers from 1 July 2026. Currently-unregistered SIL providers must apply by 1 October 2026 to keep delivering SIL during the transition. Our free quiz confirms whether this applies to you in about two minutes.

Is SIL a verification or a certification audit?

Certification — the more intensive pathway. It's a two-stage audit that includes an on-site visit and interviews with you, your staff and participants, assessed against the Core Module plus the SIL Practice Standards. That's why the document set is larger than for lower-risk supports.

What's changed with the SIL Practice Standards?

A new SIL Practice Standard is being introduced in 2026 covering supported decision-making, safeguarding, practice governance, and keeping tenancy agreements separate from support agreements. It was still in draft while SILReady was being built. SILReady's documents are structured around the draft and updated when the final standard is published — and every document tells you to review it against the final version before you rely on it.

Why not just hire a consultant?

You can — consultants typically charge $3,000–$10,000+ for SIL registration support. SILReady gives you the same core document set, tailored to your service, for $595, plus an ongoing compliance tier a one-off consultant engagement doesn't include. If your situation is unusually complex, a consultant may still be worth it, and our documents give you a head start either way.

Are the documents really audit-ready?

The pack gives you personalised, professionally structured documents mapped to the Core Module and SIL Practice Standards. You still need to read them, make sure they reflect how you actually operate, and keep them current — a certification auditor checks that you follow your policies and talks to your staff and participants, not just that documents exist. We tell you exactly where to review and what to keep up to date.

Is this legal advice?

No. Everything we provide is general information and template material. It's not legal advice, and it doesn't guarantee registration. For advice about your specific situation, talk to a qualified professional.

What do I get with Pro?

Pro keeps you compliant after registration: live registers for incidents, complaints, restrictive practices and training; reminders before worker screening, insurance or first aid expire; notifications when standards change; and CSV exports for audits and your 3-yearly re-certification.

Where is my data stored?

In Australia (Sydney region). We store only what's needed to generate your documents and run your registers, and we encourage you to keep identifying participant details out of register entries.

ImportantThis is general information and template material only. It is not legal, business, or registration advice. SIL is a certification-level registration and the SIL Practice Standards are being updated in 2026 (they were still in draft at the time of writing) — every document must be reviewed and adapted against the FINAL published NDIS (SIL) Practice Standards and your own circumstances before use. The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is the authoritative source for registration requirements.

The 1 October 2026 deadline is doing your competitors' planning for them.

Auditor queues grow as the deadline approaches. The SIL providers who start their documents early will be the ones still operating in 2027.
